Nigerians were left in panic after news filtered that AMCON is going to sell Polaris bank after elections next month.
Following revelations that the Nigerian Asset Management Corporation, AMCON, revealed that the process for the sale of Polaris Bank would begin after the general elections in February.
According to Jude Nwauzor, AMCON spokesman, the February elections are slowing the process. He made it known when he spoke with Reuters on Tuesday.
“The election time has slowed things down. We would advertise after the elections for expressions of interest from investors and begin the sales process. ”
However, following the fears expressed by some Nigerian bank customers, Polaris Bank assured the customers of the security of their savings in the bank.
According to a statement made on Polaris Bank’s twitter handle, “We would like to take this opportunity to guarantee our valued customers the security of their funds. Polaris Bank is financially stable and able to fulfill our obligations at any time.”
This was in response to many twitter users who visited the micro- blogging site to express their fears about their funds in the bank.
