NFF is now ready to enter into contract negotiations with Gernot Rohr, just six months before his contract ends
The Nigeria Football Federation is reportedly ready to start new contract talks with Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr, despite the fact that the Franco-German tactician only has six months on his deal and could start talking to other potential employers.
Rohr’s contract expires in July 2020, but his performance with the Super Eagles has ensured that both parties have no desire to quit the working relationship yet, awaiting Rohr’s agreement in the new contract that will be given to some new NFF clauses.
Many new provisions to be added will include Rohr living in Nigeria to do his job and demonstrate more involvement with the Nigeria Professional Football League as well.
Another clause allegedly stipulates that the NFF Technical Committee will accept his selections for the Nigerian national team… Although Rohr is wary of being’ owned’ by the NFF, he acknowledges that the Nigeria team has a great future and is willing to negotiate with the NFF even though some other African countries are trailing his signature.
“The NFF is ready to renew the contract of the Super Eagles coach but it certainly won’t be a loose deal like the previous one,” an NFF top source told completesportsnigeria
“There are certain conditions coach Rohr must agree to if Nigeria must retain his services. The NFF want to ensure a better deal that will help the national team as well as the football development in Nigeria.
“We are definitely set for negotiations next week but the NFF is not going to compromise on certain conditions.”
