Drake Storms Back At Wiley’s “Culture Vulture” Comment

Drake tendency to tap regional sounds and artists has often led him to be marked a’ culture vulture.’ While he has largely ignored the criticism, Grime rapper Wiley’s recent statements have provoked an OVO superstar response. During a discussion with Tiffany Calver from BBC 1Xtra, Drake hit back on claims of being a culture vulture.

he said:

“I hate that people think that me being into music from these kids that are trying to make it and trying to build a name for themselves is like, ‘Oh, that’s some culture vulture,’” he said. “What does that even mean? I don’t understand what that means. Would you rather me not acknowledge anything or support?

“That’s some real confused hater shit. But, it is what it is. I see it a lot. I’ll never understand how supporting somebody’s song or even going a step further, giving somebody a song or linking up, I’ll never understand how that is not viewed as something admirable. But, I guess some people have their own outlook on it.”

“Then Drake explicitly called out Wiley. “That’s what Wiley said,” he noted. “I’m just going to say his name because it’s been a goofy shit. But, yes, that’s just not what I liked. Like, what do you say about it? “In March, after watching a video of Drizzy attending a show headlined by London-based rapper Loski, Wiley claimed that Drake was a culture vulture.

“Culture vulture and pagan Strikes again,” the veteran artist tweeted.

He also took a shot on the Assassination Vacation Tour of Drake, which included seven London concerts.

“Assassination vacation ffs what a punk,” Wiley wrote in April.

Following Drake’s comments on BBC 1Xtra, Wiley threw more social media jabs at the 6 God.

“If what I was saying was wrong you would have stayed silent,” he wrote on Instagram.
