According to The Times, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) presides over the first conference of the National Economic Council (NEC) in 2020.
The conference, an extended one, is expected to discuss issues affecting governments, such as the Budget Support Fund.
The Budget Support Fund was the money provided by the federal government to 35 states of the federation, except Lagos, in 2016 to help them fund their budgets.
The state governors are asking for a downward review of the deductibles from their monthly allowances.
Attending the meeting, held at the State House Conference Hall in Abuja, is Senator Hope Uzodinma, who has recently been named Imo Governor of Imo State by the Supreme Court.
The meeting started at about 11 a.m. after the arrival of the Vice President, which was immediately followed by the surrender of the national anthem and the opening prayer of the Chairman of the South West Governors Forum, Rotima Akeredolu of Ondo State.
Governors Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Simon Lalong (Plateau), Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Abubakar Badaru (Jigawa) and Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta) are also present.
Others include Nasir el-Rufai (Kaduna); Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom); Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti); who is chair of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF); Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi) and Adegboyega Oyetola (Osun).
